Laundry Tips from the Experts - Beat Balled Up Bedding
Everyone loves curling up at night in their PeachSkinSheets! Laundering those sheets? Not so much - even with our unique quick-dry technology. Still, a once weekly wash is key to making sure our sheets stay clean and, most importantly, free from sweat, skin cells, and other naturally occurring nasties.
There’s just one problem with washing your PeachSkinSheets sheets, duvet covers, comforters or quilts - and no, it’s not that you have a set in all 34 colors and your laundry closet is overflowing!
It’s the dreaded ball-up! Yes, the dryer disaster we all hate to see! Instead of warm, cozy bedding ready to go back on the bed, you’re left with a damp, wadded-up bundle of sheets. It’s especially tragic when you’re about to crawl into bed expecting warm, toasty sheets! Read on to learn how to avoid balled-up bedding for good.
Shake Your Sheets
An easy but effective solution! Shake out your bedding before it goes into the dryer to decrease the chance of them balling up.
Give your Sheets Some Room
Maytag recommends not overloading your dryer to make sure all items have ample space to tumble within the drum. Adding too many items is one of the primary culprits behind balled-up sheets. Running multiple, smaller loads will save you time and effort in the long run—and spare you the frustration of damp, tangled bedding.
Sheets Only!
PeachSkinSheets prefer to ride solo in the dryer. Avoid tossing them in with heavier items like jeans, which can cause tangling and uneven drying. That’s a recipe for disaster! Read the rest of our laundry care instructions here.
Add a dryer ball or tennis ball to the party
Tumble dryer manufacturers like Whirlpool suggest adding tailor made dryer balls or even a tennis ball to your tumble dryer, especially when drying larger items like comforters. These help increase airflow, allowing sheets to dry more evenly while reducing clumping. Just remember: use low heat if you opt for tennis balls, and only use wool dryer balls with your PeachSkinSheets.
Be Hands On
This final tip requires a little attention, but the payoff is big. About halfway through the drying cycle, when your sheets are still slightly damp, stop the dryer and detangle the sheets, then resume the cycle. Then, when the cycle is complete, fold or put your sheets on the bed right away. This gives the sheets less time to tangle themselves up!
And there you have it - 5 tips to make sure your sheets come out detangled and ready for another great night’s sleep. Every. Single. Time!
